If you are one of those dads who loves wild rides, but you have young kids, then Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Calif. outside Los Angeles is a good choice.
There are dozens of attractions geared for younger riders, but there are also roller coasters if you have some free time to get them in or happen to have an older child in the mix.
While at most theme parks you’ll find the standard fare, at Knott’s Berry Farm, which is well-known for selling jams and jellies and a Peanuts theme (Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy) you’ll find different stuff.
One ride is called the Hat Dance. The ride is composed of a several large, colorful sombreros that riders can spin as fast as they want. You must be 46 inches or more to ride alone.
Or if your children are between 36- 46 inches, they could ride with you. It’s in the Fiesta Village within Knott’s Berry Farm.
Right near the Hat Dance is another ride called the Dragon Swing.
The Dragon Swing is basically a ship that swings up and down, and back and forth. While scarier than the Hat Dance, it is still not crazy scary, but if you have little ones, you might want to ride along or skip depending on what you can stomach.
The Dragon Swing does not go upside down, but it goes kind of high. You have to be 48 inches or taller, or 42-48 inches and accompanied by a responsible adult.
Some of the best stuff at Knott’s Berry Farm are the shows at the Camp Snoopy Theater.
The stage at this theatre is ice so Snoopy and Charlie brown along with all the other characters skate on ice for the entire show! The characters sing songs, dance and have fun. If it’s a hot day, and most of them are in Southern California, it’s a nice way to cool off and still do something!
At Knott’s Berry Farm they just opened a new Camp Snoopy. Characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy mingle with visitors. There are tons of rides.
