Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge have been a chance to revive his career with Bologna reportedly trying to sign him this summer.
The 29-year-old is available on a free after Liverpool decided against offering him a new deal when it expired at the end of last season.
According to the Sunday Express, the Serie A side have made an approach for Sturridge.
It is likely that Bologna have offered Sturridge significantly less than the £120,000-a-week (€133,000) he was earning at Liverpool.
Despite being unable to meet the Englishmen wage demands, Bologna remain hopeful of striking a deal with him.
Aston Villa and Rangers have also been linked with a move for him this summer, but are yet to make an offer.
Sturridge scored 67 goals in 160 appearances in six-and-a-half seasons with the Reds, helping them win the Champions League last season.
