Man United add Gareth Southgate to managerial shortlist

Manchester United
have added Gareth Southgate
to the list of potential managers to take over in the summer as they are becoming increasingly concerned that Mauricio Pochettino will stay at Tottenham.
Following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho before Christmas
, United brought in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer until the end of the season with Pochettino deemed as the favourite to succeed at Old Trafford this summer.
However, United have now turned their attentions elsewhere as they fear the Argentine will likely stay and build on his current project in north London
Southgate signed a new contract to stay on as England manager until the end of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following the Three Lions' success in Russia.
A chance to jump ship may prove difficult following his recent contract renewal with the national team, and while Southgate has been added as a viable option to take over at United, the Red Devils are wary of his experience at club level.
Prior to his success with England, Southgate has only had one spell at club level where he managed Middlesbrough for three years between 2006 and 2009.
Zinedine Zidane, who guided Real Madrid to three successive Champions League victories during his tenure, is also on the shortlist to take over from Mourinho on a permanent basis.
Solskjaer will also be considered for the role following his superb start as the interim manager at the club.
The Norwegian manager will go up against Pochettino on Sunday when United face Spurs at Wembley.
