Robin Goodfellow's racing tips: Best bets for Wednesday, May 15

racing expert Robin Goodfellow dishes out his tips ahead of Wednesday's meetings at York, Newton Abbott, Perth, Bath and Yarmouth.
Back INVINCIBLE ARMY (York, 3.0) to march to a Knavesmire victory in Wednesday's feature Duke Of York Stakes.
The James Tate-trained speedster recorded a career-best on his Doncaster comeback in Listed company in March, looking a sprinter to follow with an emphatic two-length defeat of Major Jumbo.
Invincible Army kept pace with the leaders that day before easing clear of toiling rivals and his run style, which has become a little more aggressive as he has matured, should be well suited to York.
Although beaten at Wednesday's venue on his sole previous start at the track, that defeat was sustained in a quality renewal of the Gimcrack Stakes two summers ago, when subsequent Commonwealth Cup winner Sands Of Mali proved too strong.
Invincible Army's career trajectory has largely been on an upward curve since then and the figures suggest he took a sizeable leap forward at Doncaster, so hopefully he can continue that progression this afternoon.
Brando invariably wins his seasonal re-appearance so it was a surprise when he was beaten at Newmarket in the Abernant Stakes, a race which has been a happy hunting ground for him in the past.
He could easily bounce back, especially as confirmed front-runners El Astronaute and Hey Jonesy are in close proximity to give him a good tow into the race. But Invincible Army looked a professional customer at Doncaster and may put his younger legs and undoubted class to good use.
The nap vote goes the way of SPACE BLUES (York, nap, 4.05), who looked to find Nottingham's extended mile stretching the upper limit of his stamina last time out. The Godolphin colt had also raced exuberantly on his Newbury comeback over 10 furlongs and a strongly-run event at Wednesday's trip could ideally suit a horse with his cruising speed.
STARCASTER (York, 5.05) may be on the scene at the business end of the finale, providing jockey Jamie Spencer (left) does not overdo the waiting tactics. Purchased for 35,000 Guineas at the October Sales, the four-year-old made a pleasing start for new connections when narrowly beaten at Thirsk and could go one better on Wednesday.
