'What happened with Cristiano was incredible': Messi hails Ronaldo

Lionel Messi
has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo
after his stunning performance sent Juventus
through to the last eight of the Champions League
Messi, who was fresh from his own masterclass against Lyon - scoring twice - as Barcelona won 5-1 on aggregate, said Ronaldo's display was special.
He said: 'I thought that what happened with Cristiano and Juventus was incredible. I thought maybe Atletico would be stronger, but Juventus overwhelmed them and Cristiano had a magical night with the three goals.'
Sportsmail columnist and BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton also admired Ronaldo's performance on Tuesday night.
He spoke of how Juventus looked doomed after the first leg against Atletico Madrid in which they lost 2-0 before Ronaldo's three goals in Turin saved them.
Sutton said: 'He's there to win Juventus the Champions League. I thought they [Juventus] were out after that result in Madrid but he carried Juventus.'
Ronaldo was more than happy to reflect on what he said was one of his best nights as a player.
'This was why Juventus brought me here, to help do things that they have never done before,' he added. 'This is the mentality you need to win in the Champions League.'
